Peace-ful?

Not too many years ago, people speak that staying in Singapore is good because it is relatively safe, free from disaster and is a land of opportunity.

Just a few days ago, the recent monsoon rain causes a few areas in Singapore to flood, resulting in landslides and leaving a few hundred thousands of damages behind. It was reported as one of the worst in 75 years. The aftershock from Indonesia could be felt at various areas in Singapore and residents were ‘shocked up’ from their sleep. Land of opportunity we once was, but now we are creating more opportunity for the foreigners. Is Singapore still a nice place to stay in? You judge it.

There have been some news at Old Trafford lately so let me touch on some good and not so good news for Manchester United.

HENRIK Larsson will be joining Manchester United on loan on 1 Jan, drawing $304,000-$380,000 every week for a period of 10-week stay he is with the club, a wage that will mean he is the highest-paid player in the United dressing room.

He could make his debut against Newcastle on New Year’s Day. The former Sweden striker proved at Celtic and Barcelona he can handle the pressure of being at a top club with big expectations. Larsson won three League titles and three Scottish Cups in the five years with Celtic. He won the Champions League with Barcelona and the influence on Sweden in the World Cup 2006 leave plenty of memories still in supporters mind.

Manchester United launched a giant book, weighing 37kg and measuring 52sq/cm yesterday, which chronicles the entire history of Manchester United Football Club, dating back to 1880. The leather-bound Manchester United Opus contains more than 400,000 words and 2,000 images spread over 850 pages. It comes with a hefty price tag, too - 3,000 or $9,000.

Every one of the 10,000 limited-edition opuses is signed by manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton, the club's legendary 1960s midfielder and England's greatest goal scorer. Book No. 0001 is signed by the current first team squad. It will tour 16 destinations worldwide before being auctioned at Old Trafford late next year. The club hopes to raise at least 250,000 for charity. You can read more here.

Comments after 1-0 loss to the Hammers on 17th Dec 06. The Hammer’s new manager Alan Curbishley got his first win straight after assuming the position. Will WestHam rejuvenated after this win?...

"I'm happy with the performance. We didn't deserve to lose, but these things happen in football. We just have to gather ourselves and start on another charge."

"But we've got to show our mettle, that's the hallmark of champions. This team has shown that many times in the past, and this team is young enough to be able to do that."

- Sir Alex Ferguson

… On the other hand, Chelsea got lucky coming back twice from behind after 2 fantastic strike from Lampard and Drogba, putting them 2 points behind Man Utd. Will we see a change in title holders before Christmas?
