Grumbling about cars and people

So they were talking about having cars and how difficult it is to maintain a car.

Gantries are everywhere and it doesn't seems to be solving the jam problem. Why? Its easier to have a car now compared to the olden days and with a boom of 40% more car owners, where should you put the gantry? I heard this comment about raising the ERP to $50. Smart idea? You judge it.

More cars -> More pollutions -> More jams -> More frustration -> More swearing and cursing -> More need to solve problems -> More stupid ideas to earn your money.

More cars that creates more pollutions. Are we not encouraging people to save our world and prevent global warning? Save the world VS Earn more money. Which one will you focus on? And which one will the government concentrate on? I'm sure comments like, 'We will aim to strike a balance between this and that. Please be ensured that we are working on it.'

So you have more cars, more yellow lines and more carparks. Do you have the land to build more carparks?

More carparks built taking up more space, will the parking fee go up? If the fee goes up, will it restrict people from driving? Drive a 100k car, do you mind the 1 dollar more?

So you don't drive, sell your car and take public transport. Look at the jam and squezzing and everything in the MRT and trains especially during peak hours. Do we have enough public transport to satisfy the growing population? One spoilt public transport, how many will be affected? If the train decides to stop in the middle of the track, how long a jam will you expect? You can't anticipate such problems and so if it does happen, whose fault is it? Your lack of anticipation and over-reliance on the public transport or the service provider? Even your car breaks down.

Anyway is it still a problem of too many cars on the road? Is it not a problem of overcrowding? How can we overcome this problem? There cannot be an absolute solution and prehaps only ways to reduce the damage.

Everyone seems to be eating lunch at the same time, going home at the same time and crowding at the same fairs. Shouldn't we all be more 'creative' by going work at different timings. Must we really start work at 8am, 9am or 10am? Can't work start earlier or maybe people are just too lazy to wake up early. Can one or two person 'tar bao' the food for a few and save the jams on the road or even better take public transport? Can we go home earlier, later to avoid the jams? Overall can we untilize the road and maybe just try to average out the timing the cars will be on the road? We just need to work together but then again co-ordination is difficult. Depends on how efficient the management system up there can be.

Or maybe just reduce the population on Singapore? Move them to some bigger space on the map with lesser population density. Lesser people, less problems. Or we are just plain too rich and too fortunate.

Anyway all talks and no action won't help anyway. If not why am I grumbling here. Someone needs to work. I need to go join the jam now. Good luck~
